Global Partnership Boosts Indonesia's Renewable Energy

On June 14, 2024, during the SNEC (International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition) 2024 event held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, a significant milestone was achieved in the realm of renewable energy. JJ-LAPP presented by Raja Hotmarasi (Head of Renewable Energy), Jin Song from Huawei (Head of Department of Digital Power Business Unit), and Philip Effendy from Xurya (Vice President of Operations) came together to sign a Letter of Intent (LoI), marking their collaboration aimed for accelerating the growth of renewable energy in Indonesia. This collaboration highlighted the strong commitment of industry leaders to support Indonesia's renewable energy goals.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, the country has set ambitious targets for the development of renewable energy. One of the key focuses is the expansion of Solar Power Plants (PLTS - Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya). The government's renewable energy roadmap includes the following targets:

Capacity Expansion: The government aims to increase the installed capacity of PLTS to 5,000 MW by 2025 and 14,000 MW by 2030. This expansion is crucial for reducing reliance on fossil fuels and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.

JJ-LAPP, Huawei, and Xurya bring complementary strengths to this collaboration. JJ-LAPP - with its extensive experience in renewable energy solutions, Huawei - known for inverter technology, will provide the latest innovations to maximize the output, Xurya- a leader in energy management solutions from design, installations, operations, and maintenance, will ensure that the integration of these renewable resources into the national grid is seamless and effective.

"This collaboration is proving our commitment to supporting the renewable energy transition in Indonesia and reducing carbon emissions, thereby providing long-term benefits for the industry, society, and the environment as a whole”, said Raja.

“At Huawei, we integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with electrical technology to enhance power efficiency and digitize the energy industry. Indonesia has great potential in solar energy compared to wind or water energy. By utilizing this abundant solar energy, we can support Indonesia's energy transition, drive industrial transformation, create more job opportunities, and improve human resources. Huawei is open to collaborating with all parties, especially strategic partners, to contribute to this energy transformation journey,” Jin Song added.

With the support of these industry leaders, Indonesia is poised to make substantial progress in its transition to a sustainable energy future. The collective efforts of these companies, in alignment with the Indonesian government's vision, promise a brighter, greener, and more sustainable future for the country. As the world continues to shift towards renewable energy, such collaborations will be crucial in driving the change needed to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
