A Journey Towards Responsible Plastic Usage

In an effort to battle against plastic pollution and in conjunction with World Environment Day, Jebsen & Jessen Indonesia Group, represented by ITA (Indo Tirta Abadi) and the Health & Wellness Indonesia Committee, recently organized the Beat Plastic Pollution programme. The programme was divided into two events: a talk show and an activity.

With the theme “Know & Use Your Plastic Responsibly” the talk show was held on June 16th, 2023. Dwie Rizana, the HR Manager of Indo Tirta Abadi, served as the moderator, while Arief Dewanto, the Commercial Director of Indo Tirta Abadi, was a speaker at the event. Arief shared valuable insights about the nature of plastic and the never-ending (re)cycle of PET bottles. Over 50 participants from various companies in the JJID group attended the talk show and actively engaged by raising questions about minimizing plastic usage and the potential dangers associated with it.

Two weeks later the series of the programme was the event activity. The activity was held on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023. The activity commenced as participants gathered at ITA at 9 AM to collect plastic waste. The collected plastic waste was then transported to PT Polindo Utama, a prominent recycling centre known for its efficient operations and dedication to reducing plastic waste.

Upon arrival at PT Polindo Utama, the participants were warmly welcomed by the management, who provided an informative presentation on the company's operations, particularly focusing on the recycling process and transforming plastic waste into reusable materials. Through this engaging session, the attendees gained a deeper understanding and emphasised the need for individual responsibility in plastic usage and waste management.

The visit to PT Polindo Utama served as a powerful reminder that addressing the plastic waste issue requires collective action. While recycling centers play a crucial role in processing plastic waste, it is ultimately up to individuals as consumers to take responsibility for their plastic usage and proper waste disposal. 

The Health & Wellness Indonesia Committee extends its sincere gratitude to ITA for providing a central collection point for plastic waste and for facilitating the connection with PT Polindo Utama. Additionally, the Committee would like to commend all the employees of Jebsen & Jessen Indonesia who actively participated in finding innovative solutions to battle plastic waste.
